As a creative I think we all tend to get bogged down by client work – that is, creating for others. It can be exciting, challenging, exhilarating but a lot of the time, it feels like you’re going through the motions. In this day and age a lot of content creators are churning out work with the main goal to create content, which is fine, as long as you can separate and distinguish the need to create for yourself. So this is what this month has become for me. I booked a shoot with an unknown photographer (to me) and have three more shoots planned for the rest of this month with the intention to experiment, to play, to push the creative process back into the light. Sometimes all it takes is getting away from behind the camera to reignite, at least for me. Giving up control (I’m a virgo so that’s very difficult) and refocusing on the creation process. Looking at these photos, I almost don’t recognize myself. But I think that’s the point – to see myself through someone else’s eyes. I say that with a thread of doubt though because I also see someone who I haven’t actually SEEN in a while, I spy a woman who’s been hiding. I’m excited to share this exploration over the next month and plan on updating my blog along the way. Hope you enjoy!
